Social Work

Some Stories Can’t Wait for a Budget.

Our Free Publishing Program helps eligible first-time authors publish — and our community partnerships widen access to opportunity.

Quick Answer

PGL’s social-work initiative centres on a Free Publishing Program for underprivileged, eligible first-time authors who cannot afford standard publishing costs. PGL also collaborates with government and non-government organisations on community projects that address the urban–rural opportunity divide in education, careers and digital access.

Talent is distributed evenly; opportunity is not. PGL’s social work is our attempt to correct that imbalance in the areas we know best — publishing, skills and digital access.

The Free Publishing Program

A lack of money should not silence a worthwhile voice.

The heart of our social work is the Free Publishing Program: invite and eligibility-based support for verified first-time authors who genuinely cannot afford standard publishing costs. The aim is simple — we believe that resources should never be the only barrier between a story and the world.

Because resources are finite, we are honest that we cannot accept everyone — but we review genuinely and prioritise those with the greatest need and a worthwhile manuscript.

Eligibility (general guidance)
  • You are a first-time author.
  • You cannot afford standard publishing costs.
  • Your identity and circumstances can be verified.
  • Entry is by invitation / eligibility review, so places are limited and considered case by case.
Community Collaboration

Open to NGOs and government bodies tackling the urban–rural divide.

Beyond publishing, PGL is open to working with government and non-government organisations on community-focused projects that tackle the urban–rural opportunity divide in education, careers and digital access. This can include cyber-safety drives in schools, awareness about business registration for rural entrepreneurs, or publishing community voices that rarely get heard.

How to apply or partner
